SATURNA ISLAND EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

The Disaster Coordination Committee and the Emergency Social Services Division of Saturna’s Emergency Preparedness Committee, the Fire Department and Saturna Island Rescue are all taking steps to minimize any harm that results from a disaster occurring on our island. In order to do this, our committee is providing everyone with the following:

- a pamphlet and an info bulletin “26 Weeks to Family Emergency Preparedness”

- local contacts info

- possible marine evacuation locations

- a Community Resource form.

CRD Launches Rain Barrel 101 Campaign on Sustainable U

Victoria, BC –- The Capital Regional District’s Stormwater, Harbours and Watersheds program (SHWP) is launching a new campaign to promote the sustainable management of rainwater in order to protect watersheds throughout the region. As part of the campaign, the CRD will be giving away 20 rain barrels in 20 days to promote rainwater harvesting in the region.
