Hi Murray

My apologies for the late response for a summary of the 2008 appeal of Saturna Island properties within the Gulf Island National Park (GINP).

SIBAC - Murray Rankin - June 16, 2012

Have you ever had visitors to Saturna who have said that they really would like to move to this amazing island, perhaps with a young family, in order to escape the Big City? How many times have you heard young people say that they would like to set up a business here but lack the experience -- even sometimes to know what questions need to be addressed before they can do so? Even existing business owners on Saturna have been heard to say that they could use a little advice and coaching on how to take their businesses to a new level.

Possible Marine Evacuation Sites - June 27, 2011

POSSIBLE MARINE EVACUATION SITES FOR SATURNA
By Dawn Wood, Emergency Preparedness Coordinator

In case of wildfire or other emergencies, please remember that only private roads or driveways provide access to beaches and water access on private property. When possible, request permission for emergency use. Maintain an awareness of high and low tides. In ordered evacuations, Coast Guard boats will be patrolling the island and Parks Canada can use its landing craft vessel.

Ferry Lines - Scribbler - June 20, 2011

Ferry Lines

Assorted items….

To soften the journey (a bit)… Corporate blue seat padding has belatedly appeared on the new metal seating on the Mayne Queen.

Visioning the schedule…. In early July Southern Gulf Island ferry advisory committee representatives will meet with Saltspring Island reps to discuss ideas about scheduling for both route 9 (that’s the mainland) and route 5. The SSIFAC has been working on some possible schedules and this is the other islands’ first chance to see what they've achieved and add their input.

Saturna Island Emergency Preparedness - May 27, 2011

SATURNA ISLAND EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS

The Disaster Coordination Committee and the Emergency Social Services Division of Saturna’s Emergency Preparedness Committee, the Fire Department and Saturna Island Rescue are all taking steps to minimize any harm that results from a disaster occurring on our island. In order to do this, our committee is providing everyone with the following:

- a pamphlet and an info bulletin “26 Weeks to Family Emergency Preparedness”

- local contacts info

- possible marine evacuation locations

- a Community Resource form.
