Report of the SIRRA Roads Committee – January 27, 2022

Committee Purpose: to provide liaison and communication facilities for the duration of the roads rehabilitation project.

We at the Saturna Island Residents and Ratepayers Association (SIRRA) are pleased to hear that the Galiano Conservancy Association is applying for Gas Tax Funds to support the Renewable Energy Education Centre and are writing to lend our support to this application.

I am writing on behalf of the executive of the Saturna Island Property Owners Association to thank you and the CRD board for your financial support which enabled SIPOA and the Saturna Community Club to bring the Car Stop program to our island.

I am following up our previous conversations regarding the Car Stop Program. Although you have kindly forwarded our application to the CRD approvals process, I believe you previously asked that I provide all information related to the consultation activities the Saturna Island Property Owners Association (SIPOA), the Saturna Community Club (SCC) and Saturna Lions have undertaken with respect to the proposed Car Stop Program for Saturna.

CRD Launches Rain Barrel 101 Campaign on Sustainable U

Victoria, BC –- The Capital Regional District’s Stormwater, Harbours and Watersheds program (SHWP) is launching a new campaign to promote the sustainable management of rainwater in order to protect watersheds throughout the region. As part of the campaign, the CRD will be giving away 20 rain barrels in 20 days to promote rainwater harvesting in the region.
