SIRRA President’s Report 2019


In 2019 SIRRA supported Fire Smart and Tour de Iles financially
SIRRA advocated for:
Letter to Adam Olsen requesting an exemption for Saturna under Foreign Buyers Tax.
Letter to the Island Trust’s expressing concerns in the management and current practises in of
their current budgeting practises.
Worked on expanding membership, communications, website review and creating a brochure on
SIRRA for new residents of Saturna.
The large undertaking in the review of SIRRA’s by-laws and current application. The review resulted in
a proposed motion for the AGM.
SIRRA undertook to video the condition of East Point Road and Money Road prior to the logging
trucks began using the route from IR-7 to launch skid.
Outstanding issues for 2019, contact established with both Saturna’s MMP and MPs.
Thanks to 2019 SIRRA BODs for their dedication and commitment.
 David Osborne, for a great deal of the “heavy lifting” for SIRRA
 Ron Hall, for his work as Treasurer and more specifically his tireless work on the Speculation
Tax
 Mairead Boland, for work on the Communications, possible refresh on the website
 Helen Wale, communications and brochure
 Jeanne Crerar, communications and brochure
Special mention and thanks to Colin Curwen for his guidance on options for the SIRRA website.
Special mention to Susie Washington-Smythe for her work on behalf of SIRRA as the liaison to the
Parks Board.
