It's Official SIPOA is now SIRRA

On February 12th , 2015 the Registrar of Companies certified that the name Saturna Island Property Owners Association
was changed to Saturna Island Ratepayers and Residents Association. The name change made official the welcome
inclusion of all island residents into the group.
Why join SIRRA?
While we have several forums on Saturna and they each have a focus and do a great job of informing residents and allowing
discussion on their respective sites, SIRRA is focused on issues determined by survey of members to be important to the
community. The issues are then forwarded as representing the entire group to the governmental body involved.
In the past year we have added your voice to the submissions of the Health Committee for a Health Care Nurse and
collaborated with MIRRA (Mayne Island Residents and Ratepayers Association) on the issue of property assessment
increases for large parcel property owners. We also continue with our on-going lobby and dialogue with BC Ferries on
issues related to service and the Ministry of Highways for better road maintenance.
Yes, you can voice your individual concerns on our list serve and of course use our events calendar to publicize your event.
So if these issues are important to YOU and you want to stay connected to Island-wide issues we invite you to join SIRRA.
We have a fee (currently under review for reduction) which can be paid by Paypal. Contact us at info@sirra.ca for
information and add your voice to ours.
The annual AGM of SIRRA will be held May 31st at the Recreation Centre. A business meeting will be held with election
of officers followed by a light lunch and social hour to discuss survey results and any other topics of interest.
