Public Safety - Kayak Launch - 2009

Dear Members:
Over the past summer there have been a number of near collisions between kayakers and other boats which use the Government Dock as well as ongoing kayak launching and docking problems for residents and visitors because of the height of the dock. SIPOA's Executive Committee was asked to bring this public safety issue to the attention of the relevant authorities. See the letter below:

Ambulance Emergency - letter - 2009

An Ambulance Emergency

The Saturna ambulance, which has served the island well for many years, has attended its last call and must be replaced.

In the great tradition of the island, generous community support has been offered. The Saturna Community Club (SCC) has pledged $5,000 towards the estimated $8,500 (plus GST) cost of a used vehicle. The Saturna Lions Club has pledged $1,500 and the Saturna Island Women's Club will contribute $750.

Ambulance donations - letters - 2009

Attached is the letter we sent to the Saturna Community Club together with a check for $1,500.00, donated by 23 SIPOA members towards the purchase and maintenance of Saturna Island Rescue's new ambulance. On behalf of your board of directors, I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for your generosity.
